Schoology Basics: Grading
One of the biggest advantages of using a platform like Schoology is the built-in automated grading features. It is very customizable, though for those who still prefer or have greater familiarity to other systems (like sheets, excel, or gradequick) you can easily stick with those tools and just embed them into your Schoology course page.
Grade Setup
Within the course options on the left side of your dashboard, there is a tab called "Grade Setup". This is where you can customize the course and point values, student visibility, weighted tests/quizzes/assignments, etc... You can always change these settings, though once the semester begins, you should be aware of how certain changes to point total and weighted value can effect your grades. Nothing is ever irreversible, though depending on student visibility, unintended changes may lead to a confused student.
Gradebook
As with the grade setup page, the gradebook itself is not visible to students. They are able to see their own individual grades if you allow it (able to be adjusted in assignment settings). This is a great place to stick notes, set to either be private or as a shared conversation between you and your students.
