1. Open Chrome and make sure you are logged in.
Not sure if you are logged in? Check the icon in the top-right of your Chrome Window for your login name (you should see an icon that represents you... in this example, mine is a soccer ball. If you click on the icon, you should see your login name. If you aren't logged in you can login to Chrome by clicking on the icon there.
Everyone at The Meadowbrook School already has an account, so do NOT click "JOIN NOW".
3. At the top-right of the screen, click on Sign In.
4. Click on Sign in with Google
Do NOT use your email address.
6. If this is your first time using Tinkercad you will be started right away into the tutorial. If so, follow carefully the directions on the screen.
If you've used Tinkercad before, you will see your old files from when you've used Tinkercad in the past, like the picture, below.
To get to the tutorials, go to the top right menu and select Learn
8. Click on See all Lessons
9. You will now see more lessons. There are too many to fit on the screen.
10. Scroll down on the page to see more lessons (use two fingers on the track pad to scroll down, or the scroll wheel in the middle of a mouse.)
11. You will work your way through the six tutorlals circled above. Start with Learning the Moves. Click on that one.
12. For each tutorial, do these STEPS:
1. CAREFULLY READ the directions in the left column.
2. Do all of the steps on the workplane again and again until you are comfortable with them.
3. Click Next.
13. When you complete a lesson, you will see confetti on the Workplane, and Contragulations! on the instructions.
Click Done at the bottom of the tutorial.
Need to do a tutorial again to better understand it? Click Reset instead of Done.
14. Click Continue > to go to the next tutorial.
The second one is called Camera Controls.
Continue to Read the Directions and do all the steps. Click Next at the bottom of the page after you've completed the steps and feel comfortable.
15. The tutorials start out very easy (like the ones above) and get harder and harder. Here is an example from the third one... Read and do everything in the directions and follow all the steps. Click on Show Hint.
16. Work your way through all the tutorial until you finish Die on the Workplane.
17. When finished with the cube, click on the TINKERCAD Rainbow logo cube to get back to the home screen.
18. Practice by making your own keychain from scratch.
Your keychain:
- must have a 3mm thick rectangular base big enough to hold your letters
- the letters must be attached to the base (move the Workplane to attach them)
- must have a rounded edge (add a cylinder to the rectangle and union it to the rectangle)
- must have a hole in the cylinder big enough to be able to put a string through it.
- Bonus: add a border around the letters of your name.
