3D Printing from Tinkercad: Submit a Job Request
You MAY print your own creations. You may NOT print things that you download from the Internet or copy from someone else. You MAY start with a copy of someone else's creation and edit it to improve it and make it your own.
1. Open Chrome and go to tinkercad.com
If you're not logged in already, Login Using Social Providers and select Google.
2. Click on the object you want to 3D print.
3. A larger image of the object will appear. Click on Tinker this
4. Use the cube in the top-left corner to move around the view look at all sides of your object. Make sure:
- all the parts are attached well with none sticking out in the air
- there are no overhangs
- the object is sitting on the workplane, not in the air
- if you want many copies of an object, just put one on the build plate. You can request how many copies you want later.
5. Change the name to something that describes your object. In the top-left, click on the name.
6. A good filename should include your name and the name of the object, for example:
Stop! Your tinkercad file should have a teacher's approval before doing the next steps. Ask a teacher familiar with 3D printing to look at and approve your design and file name.
7. To submit your file for someone else to 3D print for you, you must send the file. Click Send To.
8. The Send window appears.
9. Scroll down inside the window to see the section called Share over IM or email .
10. Click on Invite People.
Use two fingers on the track pad or the center scroll wheel on your mouse.
11. Click on Generate new link
13. It is now copied to your clipboard, ready for you to paste into a request form later.
When you see Link copied! you may click on the X to close the window.
14. Submit a Request for 3D printing.
Click on the + to open a new Tab in Chrome.
Go to bit.ly/mbrequest
15. Complete the first page of the form with your information.
Under Machine, click the radio box for 3D Print.
At the bottom of the first page, click NEXT.
Complete the blanks on the second page.
Paste in the URL link to your tinkercad from step 12, using command-v to paste.
Click SUBMIT.
