Voxelize Yourself (or any stl file) Follow these instructions to Voxelize any 3D scan or stl file. Before and After In this tutorial, we'll take a smooth stl scan (1), and convert it to a voxelated model (2). For more information on Voxelation, read this articles: Voxel - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voxel Tinkercad.com Go to tinkercad.com, log in, an expand the import pane to the left. Upload your stl file You may need to scale your stl file. Choose the file, set the scale and click import. The stl loads You may find the stl file loads at a small scale. Resize the model as needed. After resizing The model may take some time to fully load and become smooth. Model after loading The model will appear smooth after it loads fully. Download for Minecraft Go to Design, then Download for Minecraft. Set the size Use the default setting of 1 mm = 1 minecraft block to start - you can always come back and experiment with different scales later! Click export, and a .schematic file will download. Printcraft Go to www.printcraft.org. Click Upload a Model Choose and Upload your schematic file Upload the .schematic file you downloaded from Tinkercad earlier. Download the stl file Download the stl file. Prepare the file for 3D printing You can now prepare the file for 3D printing. In this example we are using MakerBot to prepare the file. Rotate or scale the model as needed. The final model Congrats - you should now have a voxelated model. Experiment with the scale when exporting from tinkercad - can you create very blocky models as well as less blocky ones? 3D Printing
