Classlink - Enabling 2-Factor Authentication
Setting Up 2-Factor Authentication
Method 1: Classlink prompted me to add 2-Factor Authentication (MFA) when logging in
If Classlink is prompting you to add 2-Factor Authentication (MFA) when logging in, you will see a screen like this. Please skip to the section titled "Downloading & Setting Up Google Authenticator".

Method 2: I am adding the 2-Factor Authentication while already logged in
1. Log into Classlink at https://launchpad.classlink.com/meadowbrook. NOTE: Do not use “Sign in with Google”. Use your Classlink login info (see top of this page for more info).

2. From the launchpad, click on your profile in the upper right hand corner.

3. Select "Settings" from the drop down menu that appears.

4. Select the "Security" tab from the pop-up menu that appears.

5. Click on the drop-down menu below the "You may only select one of the options below." text. From the options that appear, select "Mobile Authenticator".

Note: we STRONGLY recommend using the Mobile Authenticator as your source of 2-Factor Authentication. However, if you are unable to download or use a Mobile Authenticator app, you can use the Mobile SMS option instead.
Downloading & Setting Up Google Authenticator
A screen with instructions should appear, along with a QR Code to scan. Don't navigate away from this screen -- we will be coming back to it after downloading & setting up Google Authenticator.
6. From your mobile phone's App Store, search & download the "Google Authenticator" app. You can also scan one of the QR codes listed below to be sent there.
^Download via iPhone App Store^
^Download via Android Play Store^
7. On your phone, open the Google Authenticator app & sign in using your Meadowbrook email & password.

8. On the Google Authenticator app, click the + button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, and select "Scan a QR code".

Finishing ClassLink Setup
10. Line up the yellow lines on your phone with the QR code on the ClassLink page on your computer.

11. "ClassLink" with a 6 digit code and a swirling wheel should now appear on your Google Authenticator. Enter the six digit code, without spaces, into the text box on ClassLink.

Congrats! 2-Factor authentication is now set up for your ClassLink account.
What is 2-Factor Authentication, and why do I need it?
2-factor authentication adds another layer of security to your account, which drastically reduces the chances of having your account compromised. Instead of the typical sign-in process, which only requires you to require your password (something you know), 2-factor requires both the password and a second time-based code tied to a physical device (something you have). With 2-factor enabled, for someone to gain access to your account, they would need to both know your password, and also have access to your 2-factor device, which is highly unlikely.
It's important to carefully read and understand these instructions when setting up 2-factor authentication. If 2-factor is set up without understanding this additional security layer, it's possible to lock yourself out of your account.
In the standard setup, at sign in, you will be required to enter a code that is provided through an Authenticator app on your cell phone or texted to you. It's highly encouraged to set up an app on your phone to use instead of relying on text messages. Using an app ensures you'll be able to sign in even if you don't have cellphone service or internet - the app works completely offline.
If you ever have an issue accessing your account, please email help@meadowbrook-ma.org for assistance.
