Extra Pages Printed or No Double Sided Printing Option Available
Have you sent a print for multiple copies, but had the printer print exponentially more copies than what you sent? Have you been unable to enable "print on both sides" for your prints? This has been a common issue recently across many Mac devices. Luckily, there is an easy fix.
Note that fixing student computers will require external administrator credentials. Please send them to the Tech office on the third floor for help.
Step 1: Check Printer Settings
On your Mac, go to System Settings, then scroll down and click Printers & Scanners.

Under Printers, click on papercutvirtualqueue.

At the bottom of the window that pops up, there will be a Driver version. The issue in question occurs when the Driver version is 1.0. If that is the version you see, please continue to Step 2.

If your papercutvirtualqueue Driver version is 3.0 (not 1.0), then this fix will not work. Please contact the helpdesk at help@meadowbrook-ma.org or visit the Tech office on the third floor for more assistance.
Step 2: Reinstall Papercut
From the same window you checked your Driver version on, click Remove Printer... in the bottom left corner. If you are prompted for administrator credentials, use your Meadowbrook username (without @meadowbrook-ma.org) & password. Then, confirm that you want to Remove Printer.

From the Printers & Scanners menu, click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... in the bottom right corner, below any other printers you might have saved.

In the window that pops up, under Default, you will see papercutvirtualqueue. Click on it. Make sure that Location: says MBUTILITY. Finally, click Add in the bottom right corner.

Step 3: Final Steps
To make sure Papercut is working as intended, we will go and print a test page. A good test print is google.com, but you can print any page you'd like.
When printing, if papercutvirtualqueue is no longer the print option, click on the dropdown next to Destination. If papercutvirtualqueue is there, select it. Otherwise, select See more, then select papercutvirtualqueue from the menu that pops up.

Before hitting Print, click the More settings dropdown at the bottom of the options, and make the following changes:
- Change Paper size to Letter.
- Uncheck Headers and footers.
- (optional) Check Print on both sides (flip on long edge).

Then, hit Print. (You do not need to actually print this next time you are at the printer.) If you are asked to log in, use your Meadowbrook username (without @meadowbrook-ma.org) & password.
