How to Use Bambu Studio to 3D Print Your Design from Tinkercad
If you haven't installed and logged into Bambu Studio, follow these instructions before continuing.
In Tinkercad, export an STL File
1) Click on Export
Click on STL to download the file to the Downloads Folder on your laptop:
Find and Open the BambuStudio Application on your Computer
Use Command + SpaceBar to quickly get to the Spotlight Search and type in Bambu.
Click on BambuStudio to Open the App:
When it opens, you should already be logged in with the user shown below. If you aren't logged in, go back to the installation instructions and scroll down to find the login instructions.
Click on New Project.
Figure Out Which Printer is Available
Use the built-in cameras to see which printer is ready for 3D printing.
1) Click on the Device button at the top of the screen.
2) Note which printer you are looking at. (We have a Mini AMS and a P1P.) Use the drop-down > in the top-left corner to switch between the two printers.
3) Click the play button to see the live image from the camera.
In order to print to a printer, it should have an empty build plate.
4) If there is something on the build plate and it says it is 100% finished, as in the photo below, please ask a teacher to remove the print for you so that you can use the printer.
5) If a printer is busy printing, it will show you at the bottom of this screen under Printing Progress.
6) If one printer is busy, go back to step 2 and try the other printer.
7) Note which printer you planning to print to.
Setting up the Printers we Have at Meadowbrook
You only need to do this part the first time:
1. Click Prepare
2. Click on the gear next to Printer
3.Uncheck all the printers listed there except for these two:
Bambu Lab A1 mini 0.4 nozzle
Bambu Lab P1P 0.4 nozzle
Use the drop down menu to select which printer you will print to:
1) Click on the "Add" box at the top of the build plate to add your STL file:
2) Click on Downloads folder
3) Select your File
4) Click the Open button
Adding Supports (Optional)
If your design needs supports, turn them on now:
1. Click the Support Tab
2. Click the tick box next to Enable Support
Slice the File for the 3D Printer
1) Confirm the correct printer
2) Confirm the textured build plate (should be the default one)
3) If you need supports, they are on
4) Click Slice Plate
After slicing is completed, close the Color Scheme to see the result.
If any orange boxes show up on the screen with errors or warnings about your design, do NOT ignore them. Ask a teacher for help with your design. Do NOT continue to print.
If your design has no errors, click Print Plate
